A native 64-bit solution is not yet available but Quick PDF Library can be successfully run on on 64-bit machines using  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WoW64 - WoW64 .

Here is the relevant information on this issue for each edition:

  • Delphi Edition -- Delphi generates 32-bit code and so Windows will know to automatically run it through WoW64 on 64-bit machines.
  • ActiveX Edition -- if you're using Visual Studio (or similar) you will need to set the platform target to x86 instead of Any CPU.
  • DLL Edition -- if you're using Visual Studio (or similar) you will need to set the platform target to x86 instead of Any CPU.
  • TCP Edition -- this edition is designed to run as a service and will run successfully on 32-bit and 64-bit machines.

The basic steps required for configuring a project in Visual Studio to work on 64-bit machines with either the ActiveX or DLL editions are shown below.

  1. Right-click on your project and select 'Properties' from the menu
  2. Click on the 'Build' tab
  3. Under 'General' change the 'Platform target' to x86
  4. Save

In the future we will release a native 64-bit version of Quick PDF Library. The library is written using the Delphi programming language and at this stage, Embarcadero has not released a 64-bit compiler for Delphi -- although it is on their roadmap and they're working on it. As soon as Embarcadero release a public beta version of their Delphi 64-bit compiler we’ll get to work on building a 64-bit compatible version of Quick PDF Library.

Finally, if you would like to be notified by email when we release a native 64-bit version of the library please let us know by leaving a comment.

Hi Rowan,

Delphi XE2 is closing rapidly with both 64bit and Mac OS X support.
Will the 64bit version of Quick PDF be ready when XE2 is released somewhere in the upcoming months?
And what about FireMonkey/Mac? Do you have any plans to make the library compatible with this platform as well?

Thanks for all the hard and good work!
Paul

Hi Paul,

Our goal will be to release a 64-bit version of Quick PDF Library in 2011 after Embarcadero release a 64-bit compiler for Delphi. I don't know what the ETA for Delphi XE2 is but my guess is that it's not too far off. We'll release a 64-bit version of Quick PDF as soon as we can after that.

Although Delphi XE2 supports creating Mac applications (in a round about sort of way), our library has a number of Windows dependencies -- for example the rendering engine -- and so while our goal is to create a Mac version in the future, I don't know when this will be. It will depend on how good Delphi XE2 is and a few other things.

We'll post more info with regards to 64-bit as soon as we can.

Cheers,
- Rowan.

And why you don't produce a release without rendering ? for OSX and FireMonkey.

Thanks

Where have you bought FireMonkey ;-)
Please keep in mind that convertions will last.
Behind Debenu there aren't hundreds of developers.

Cheers, Ingo

We maybe product a cut down version of Quick PDF Library for Mac, however, we can't make any promises just yet. We still need to see how well Delphi works for generating Mac OSX applications. Lots of testing required.
