Does anyone know if it is possible to encrypt (password protect) 1 layer of a pdf and not the other? Obviously in a single pdf that has 2 layers?
If it is possible can you tell me how to go about doing this? can iSED do this? I have written an application in VB and need to redact (block out) the ssn of documents for all users, EXCEPT the administrator. Any help or ideas is very appreciated! Thanx, haagendaz |

Hi!
The password protection works documentwide - No chance for a special layerprotection. I won't do any experiments in this case 'cause surely not all pdf-readers will work with such special things. If you want to insert special notes only for special users you can work with custom fields. Try the functions Set... and GetCustomInformation. Best regards, Ingo |

Do you know how to make custom information user specific (any code samples)?
ie. The main document is viewable to anyone, but you need a password to view the custom information. |

Hi!
To make it user specific perhaps you can use JavaScript. A field on a form to insert special content... It depends on what's the content and a custom message popup or not... Only thoughts... It should work ;-) Best regards, Ingo |

I think you are thinking that this is a web page, but it is not. This is client-server software that just utilizes pdf's. Not the web....
