They seem to license Quick PDF Library on a per-user and per-platform basis.
If you buy a source code license, it says "Customers using Delphi in their organization can also purchase a source code license for Quick PDF Library Delphi edition that will give them the Delphi source code which can generate the Delphi Edition DCUs." Is the source code license in addition to platform licenses? Or can you use it to build platform libs? Can you just buy the source code license? (The purchase page is very confusing, and their licensing doesn't make a lot of sense either.) The price appears relatively high, but I'm thinking it would take several weeks to create something that I need from scratch, and that would cost way more for my development time. Also, where it says: " Edited by thetoolwiz - 18 May 17 at 8:17PM |

This is the main reason why people buy any kind of components. btw. On my markte place, my services are unique because most other service providers have much worse opportunities for ripping PDFs because they have worse libraries. |

Unfortunately more or less the answer is yes. In short review there are several licensing models in the world. I will show you a few of them: 1. Altogether every machine requires a separate license 2. Within a given company, the license can be used on any machine. Developer has his own license, customer has his own license. 3. Developer buys a license for the right amount of client machines 4. Developer buys a license and does not worry about anything anymore (I mean licensing here). Formerly QPDF Library was like in 4 model. Currently you can use model 2 or 3. Of course, this description is in a very simplistic way, but it looks more or less like that, or at least I think so. Of course, any ambiguity must be clarified by the sales department, as I'm just normal QPDF Library user/customer. Regards, mLipok Edited by mLipok - 18 May 17 at 10:25PM |

To add one detail: if you bought QPDF 'formerly' (when the model 4 applied) then that model still applies while you continue to pay for updates each year. Or at least that was the case when I paid for an annual update last year.
