We would like to turn from PDFtron's PDFnet lib to QuickPDF.
It seems to be that all the functions exist in QuickPDF, however, the speed seems more slow. We have tested the lib and got the following results: 1. Overall speed The rendering of the same page (with images and some text, in size of 500x700px) took 0.8s to PDFnet, and 1.3s to QuickPDF. How can the speed be increased, or will be any change of QuickPDF in the near future? 2. Caching Also it seems that PDFnet has some caching, and when we re-open a page (after it opened first time in the running), the re-open executed faster. Is there (or will be) similar caching in QuickPDF? 3. Part-page rendering It seems to us, when we render only a part of the page (eg. 1/3 of the page for zooming), the whole page is rendered, which makes a big unneccessary overhead. Can the rendering be reduced to the needed area? Tech background: Our app is written in C++, build with MS Visual C++ Express, runs on Windows (XP/Vista/7), the test was on XP. And for windowing we use wxWidgets. Thanks for your answers/help.

I too use Tron, and have benched the product for years. No doubt, it is a very fast library (also with a high royalty rate). Abobe runs my bench in 0.20, and Tron at 0.23 (0.249 when using the gdi+ backend).
If the bench comparison (for the type of work you are doing) is 0.8 to 1.3, then QuickPDF it is already close to the ballpark for your work, so any gains made would go a long way to even the score. Tron is about as fast as it is ever going to get, so there should be only one for QuickPDF way to go, and that is much faster. IMHO, QuickPDF has huge opportunities to make the gains needed to get into that circle, so it would not surprise me at all to see that sort of thing happen. TJoe(j^) |

Dear QuickPDF masters!
I am still waiting for an answer, especially for point 3. In sub-page rendering, how can I acheive that not to be the whole page rendered, only the desired part? Is it possilbe, or will be possible in the near future? Thanks, netmano
