I have been using iSed Quick PDF for many years very successfully for scanned and OCRd documents.
I now have a requirement to convert MSword (and other format) documents to PDF without using a PDF printerdriver interactively. I want to import documents to my application in a scheduled task or web application without having to open the original application.
Any thoughts if I can do this with QuickPDF or any other suggestions?

Hi Perry!
You won't get this with QuickPDF. Ich you don't want to use a pdf-printer-driver-solution then i think you should use the special convert solutions on the market. Cheers, Ingo |

Perry,
We have also used QuickPdf successfully for years and it is for us the best tool for what we are doing. However, the one consistent problem we have had is with documents that customers create in Word and then convert to PDF and expect us to print them. This has gotten better with the last few releases, but we still have documents that just don't look the same when printed from QuickPdf as opposed to Acrobat. At one time we would occasionally have to send a document back to the customer and tell them we couldn't support it, but now it is usually just a cosmetic difference such as some text not being bold in QuickPdf but bold in Acrobat. Unless it is a document with legal requirements then they are almost always usable, but just not quite right. I know this doesn't answer your question (Ingo has already done that), but I was wondering if you have already worked with documents converted from Word and if so did you experience any of the same issues we have. Thanks Harry |

GhostScript is another alternative for you; but if you're looking for something that does not need any Printer Driver, then TX Text Control is a good choice, provided you can afford it (at least I can't!).

Tx Text Control requires .NET to convert PDF files into Word Documents. However, Word to PDF works well (both the .Net and ActiveX versions), but is is expensive as you noted.
