Depends what you are trying to do? A little more explanation of what you want to do will help everyone here in this user to user forum help answer the question.A quick search through the forums shows some users are doing just this.

Hi Wheeley,
Thanks for the reply. I want to achieve the following functions in a browser based application. 1. PDF viewer: The user should be able to view the document embedded in the application window (.NET web form). 2. PDF annotator: While viewing the document the user should be able to annotate, comment, add notes, etc. -- and save the changes to his local drive. 3. PDF Form Filler: The user should be able to FILL IN a PDF Form under program control embedded inside a web form. As the user is filling in the form, the data he is entering should be available to the program so that those values can be saved separately in a SQL Server table. 4. I should be able to use the "flatten PDF" function to convert a PDF form into a "flat" (image) format PDF, so that the fields are permanently embedded in the PDF with no possibility of further change. 5. I should be able to add pages to an existing PDF. Tall order. Any possibility of achieving this through QuickPDF? If not, would you please be able to point me in the right direction that would enable me to accomplish my goal without paying thousands of dollars. I don't mind paying a developer license, but my client wants a royalty-free distribution -- otherwise I was inclined towards exploring RAD PDF as mu solution. Thanks. Probal

Hi!
You should have a look in the developer guide:
ASP is supported. There's no note regarding any restrictions or limitations.
Cheers and welcome here,
Ingo

QPL does not have and browser viewing component nor an annotation or form filling component.
It will be very difficult finding a royalty free solution that doesn't cost thousands of dollars. If there was a free solution then we would all be using it. Andrew.

Hi Probal!
Point 2 will be difficult.
Point 3 should be examined regarding new acrobat forms.
All other issues you can manage (you can create the functionality) with QuickPDF.
BTW: You should have a look in the samples section here.
There's at least one sample for pdf-viewing...
Cheers Ingo

I am able to accomplish points 3-5 in C++ using the QuickPDF (dll version) and Intraweb however the generated HTML for filling in the form is extremely large.
For the sake of speed and compression, I wonder if there's a way to use a global QP object that I render to the browser and then read back the fieldvalues of after the user makes their input? |
