yes...you're right.
There's no functionality implemented to do this.
The only option is:
https://www.debenu.com/docs/pdf_library_reference/GetFormFieldValue.php
But i think you know it already ;-)

Hi to all,
when I sign a document  I stored some metadata inside the field during the signature process using :
DPL.SetSignProcessFieldMetadata

I need extract this metadata in a 2nd process.. but it seems that it's not exposed a method like
GetFieldMetadata
Someone known if it's possible?
