You can control the details via the dpi-parameter and the dimensions.
What you want to do you should do before (on the image) or if you're working with the jpeg- or bitmap-object (on these objects you can have influence like "... jpeg.PixelFormat := jf8Bit; ..." or "...Bitmap.PixelFormat := pf8Bit; ...".
